Osterman research estimates that one half of organizations have at some point fired an employee for a transgression related to email, and nearly one half have been ordered by court or regulatory commission to produce electronic information. With the amount of critical information that passes through corporate email systems, companies must take measures to protect themselves from potential risks. In addition, companies must be able to produce data in timely manner should a subpoena or document discovery request be received.
